FanDuel Price: $7,300
Philip Rivers, unlike Bortles, is an excellent real-life quarterback, but he's in a tough spot this week as he plays at Denver.
In the San Diego Chargers' last three games against the Denver Broncos, they have averaged a woeful 14.66 points per game. The Chargers' current implied total of 19.5 is the lowest on FanDuel's main slate.
Since the start of the 2015 season, opposing quarterbacks have averaged 12.11 FanDuel points at Denver. During that time, seven of the 12 starting quarterbacks — including Andrew Luck and Aaron Rodgers — have been held under 16 FanDuel points In Rivers last five head to head meetings with the Broncos, he has averaged 13.63 FanDuel points.
Rivers has been very good this season. Among the 36 quarterbacks who have attempted at least 60 passes, he ranks 5th in Passing NEP and 7th in Passing NEP per drop back .
The Broncos have been even better, ranking second in the league in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per drop back. They have given up the third-fewest passing yards (1,352) and have accumulated more interceptions than touchdowns allowed. The Broncos also have yielded the second-fewest FanDuel points to quarterbacks (12.6).
There are plenty of weeks to deploy Rivers with confidence, but this is not one of those weeks.
