In a similar vein to last week, I decided this week to give some variety of options in how to approach your defensive back spot. The first recommendation is more of a one-week streamer based on matchup, while the second is one that I believe will be a boon for the rest of the season in your leagues.
New York Giants cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would absolutely win a game of NFL name Scrabble with just about anyone, and he’s also good at matching up with whoever he needs to in coverage, be they outside receivers or slot guys. This week, he should be manning the middle of the field against the Philadelphia Eagles’ Jordan Matthews, the highest volume receiver on the team. This will give DRC plenty of chances for tackles and passes defended, and it makes him a solid (albeit low ceiling; the Eagles have just the 22nd-highest interception rate) fantasy option in Week 9.
Rodgers-Cromartie is available in 95.3% of ESPN IDP leagues. We project him for 3.53 tackles, 0.28 interceptions, 0.96 passes defended, and a total score of 6.11 fantasy points in Week 9.
