Who says old men can’t play football anymore? At 31, New England Patriots defensive end Chris Long is definitely nearing the pass-rusher AARP, but he’s still been a solid player in a part-time role for the Pats. Long is playing about 71 percent of the Patriots’ defensive snaps this year, and -- while he has just one sack -- his pressure ratings are still fairly solid (he ranks 68th in quarterback hit rate) and he has four stuffs to this point in the year. Long is on-pace for just 42 total tackles this year, but in the right setting he can be a fine one-week streamer for us.
While the Seattle Seahawks seem like a daunting task for a defensive end to attack, they’ve proven to be pretty mortal over the past few weeks. Over the last month, the Seahawks have given up at least one sack a game, including four last week. Of the seven sacks they’ve allowed in their last four games, six went to defensive linemen. In addition, running back Christine Michael has been stuffed at the 14th-highest rate among running backs coming into the week. This is a low-floor but high-ceiling matchup for Long.
Long is available in 97.7% of ESPN IDP leagues, and we project him for 2.54 tackles, 0.18 sacks, and a total score of 3.62 fantasy points in Week 10.
