Tampa Bay Buccaneers weak-side linebacker Lavonte David has had a down season by most regards -- he’s on-pace for only 83 total tackles, has no interceptions, 1 pass defended and 1 sack. In Week 12, however, he shone in coverage on Seattle Seahawks tight end Jimmy Graham; he allowed him just one catch until midway through the third quarter. Graham got more involved in the fourth quarter, but so did David.
On one particular play midway through the fourth quarter, Graham caught a short pass just outside the Tampa Bay red zone, and found David and cornerback Vernon Hargreaves III staring him down. The two defenders hit him -- one high, one low -- and knocked the ball loose. David fell on the loose ball, and (untouched by a Seahawk) scrambled to his feet to return the rock 51 yards. The Buccaneers held the Seahawks to a meager five points -- talk about slaying a giant.
