The tight end position is a wasteland these days, especially with the recent injuries to Jordan Reed and Rob Gronkowski. For perspective, Greg Olsen is the top scoring player at the position, and he hasn't topped five points (standard scoring) in five of his last six games. Yikes. Needless to say, any player producing at the position warrants waiver consideration, and Davis has been modestly productive over the past seven weeks.
The oft injured Jordan Reed is currently dealing with a Grade 3 shoulder separation, and there are mixed opinions as to how long the injury could sideline him. In the meantime, Davis will fill in as the starter in one of the most explosive passing games in the league. Against Dallas, he finished with 5 receptions for 68 yards, and on Sunday, against the stingiest defense against tight ends, he finished with 5 receptions for 47 yards.
While Davis can't be started with much confidence at this point, the same could be said for almost all tight ends at the moment. The bottom line is that he is receiving volume and showing well in a high-powered passing offense. That is enough to justify consideration as a streaming tight end option considering the landscape.
