Vance McDonald disappointed fantasy owners with just two catches for nine yards last week, marking his first game since Week 7 that he didn't score at least nine fantasy points in points-per-reception (PPR) formats. In his defense, it was nearly impossible to put up stats given the state of the San Francisco 49ers' passing game last week. San Fran completed just five passes in a snow-filled game, with McDonald being the only pass-catcher with more than one catch. McDonald also led the team in targets for the third straight week.
This week, McDonald and the Niners return home, where the weather should be much more inviting. He will also get a terrific matchup against the New York Jets, who have the fourth-worst pass defense in the league, according to our metrics. Most recently, the Jets were seen giving up 10 catches for 117 yards and 3 touchdowns to the Indianapolis Colts' tight ends on Monday Night Football.
If Brate isn't available in your league, give McDonald a long look in this plus matchup. Don't let last week's dud scare you off -- Colin Kaepernick will return to the starting lineup this week, and McDonald should return to producing along the lines of the 12.5 PPR points he averaged in the four previous weeks.
