Fantasy Football: 3 Things We Learned From Week 14
Let's take a look at some of the takeaways from Week 14, including Devontae Booker's fade From relevancy.

Ty Montgomery Is Fantasy Relevant Again, but Tough to Trust

The Green Bay Packers backfield has been a dumpster fire for fantasy football owners. Eddie Lacy was pretty efficient through Week 6, sporting an 0.08 Rushing NEP, but his touchdown-less season came to an end with an unfortunate Ty Montgomery got the start in Weeks 7 and 9, proving to be an effective dual threat as a RB/WR hybrid, but when James Starks returned in Week 10, the Packers moved away from Montgomery as their lead back. Since Week 10, the Packers also managed to sign Seattle Seahawks' castoff Christine Michael.

But in Week 14, the Packers went back to Montgomery, giving him 9 carries for 41 rushing yards and a touchdown in addition to 3 catches for 45 yards. Montgomery's involvement all but solidified the James Starks phaseout, which began in Week 13.

In PPR leagues, it's certainly encouraging that Montgomery is getting involved in the Packers' offense once more.

Behind the stat line, though, it's important to note Michael received also 10 carries, for which he put up 36 rushing yards. But it's also notable that he received a lot of them after the game seemed out of reach for the Seahawks.

If I had to put money on who was the lead dog in the Packers' backfield, it'd still go Montgomery. But until we see more on how the Packers distribute touches, it'll be hard to trust him as a key cog in your playoff lineups.

If you were the unfortunate owner of Melvin Gordon or Matt Forte and managed to skirt by into the next round, Montgomery could be a good option if Bilal Powell is already owned. Just know that, despite his efforts in Week 14, he isn't a lock for a repeat performance in Week 15.
