It’s no secret that Eagles defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz is a defensive mastermind, a blitz-happy version of King Midas, turning everything he touches into gold.
Still, not many of us thought he would work the wonders he has in just one offseason, especially considering he had to convert the Eagles from a two-gap 3-4 unit to an attacking 4-3 defense -- his hallmark style. It’s paid off, however, and some of his favorite players have followed him to great success in Philly, like cornerback Leodis McKelvin.
Late in this divisional contest between the Eagles and Washington, it was a duel to the death between a high-powered Washington offense and a devastating Philly defense. Cousins dropped a ton of yards and a bundle of scores on his rivals, but made a few errors, and one was throwing behind DeSean Jackson with McKelvin blanketing him.
After jumping the pass, all McKelvin had to do was chug straight ahead for a 29-yard interception return and score to close the scoring gap.
