We all know it, we all love it.
It’s the perfect face for the perfect emotion, and when New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning gets picked off, we get gifted with the beautiful joy of “Eli Face”. While it’s certainly not fortunate for the Giants that we see so many instances of this event that it has its own moniker, it adds fun to the game for fans -- and the defense loves it, too.
Sure enough, the “Eli Face” made a few appearances in Week 16, as Philadelphia Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins made Manning’s life quite hard. Lined up in the slot on one particular first-quarter play, Jenkins read the route right from the snap. Tight end Will Tye telegraphed his movement, and Manning didn’t even set his feet before rifling the ball Tye’s way.
Jenkins bore forward, wrenched the pass out of the air, and raced to the end zone for a 34-yard pick-six.
