The 25 Best NFL Running Back Seasons in the Last 25 Years
Which running backs lay claim to the best single-season performances in recent history?

12. Barry Sanders, Detroit Lions (1994)

From people who know just how good Sanders was, it's not entirely mind-blowing that he's again atop a host of players with the same AV. For an AV of 20 in 1994, he averaged 5.69 yards per attempt and totaled 2,166 yards from scrimmage.

Sanders rushed for 1,883 yards and 7 touchdowns before being named Offensive Player of the Year. The acknowledgments go on, as he was also named to the Pro Bowl and the league's All-Pro First Team.
