13. Cardinals select John Ross, Wide Receiver
Ross has the most explosive per-play upside of any receiver, posting an electric Combine. In 2016, Ross earned 14.2 yards per reception and the third-best FBS touchdown rate (20.99 percent).
numberFire Says: The Cardinals’ wide receivers added up to just the 22nd-most Reception NEP per target in the league in 2016, and Larry Fitzgerald is likely in the last year of his career.
16. Ravens select Derek Barnett, Edge Rusher
Barnett's production at Tennessee is jaw-dropping: 32 sacks and 52 tackles for a loss in three years. While his Combine was less than stellar, he always seems to be in position to make plays and earn production.
numberFire Says: The Ravens pass defense has started to slip, ranking 12th in Adjusted Defensive Passing NEP per play. With Elvis Dumervil cut and Terrell Suggs turning 35 this fall, Baltimore needs to add youth off the edge.
17. Washington selects Jonathan Allen, Defensive Lineman
Allen has top-five potential, but a subpar Combine showing may drop him. Does athleticism or production matter more? Over the last two years, Allen has averaged 47 tackles, 13 stuffs and 10 sacks, with 67 quarterback pressures this year alone.
numberFire Says: Washington churned out the ninth-worst Adjusted Defensive Rushing and Passing NEP per play last year, and they need to plug the vacuum in the middle of their defense. Chris Baker, one of the few quality players last year, walked in free agency.
19. Buccaneers select Forrest Lamp, Offensive Guard
I love Lamp, who projects as a guard due to a lack of length. Still, Lamp has athleticism to thrive in a zone scheme, and he allowed just four pressures on 417 passing attempts last year, according to PFF.
numberFire Says: The Bucs' offensive line turned in the 11th-worst Rushing Success Rate in the league in 2016, as well as the 11th-most Sack NEP allowed as a team.
