The Tennessee Titans had two chances to nail their biggest needs at the top of the draft, and they did it in style: the 5th and 18th overall picks saw the Titans snag wide receiver Corey Davis and cornerback Adoree’ Jackson -- both are rawer than their peers at the positions, but both have sky-high upside. Taywan Taylor in the third round adds to a rebuilding receiver corps; he’s like a jacked-up Kendall Wright. Florida International tight end Jonnu Smith is another project pass-catcher, but he can sit behind Delanie Walker and learn.

I’ll never decry taking offensive linemen in a league where the trenches make or a break an offense, but two small-school projects here don’t make for assurance at all. UCLA linebacker Jayon Brown was a smart call in the fifth round, but the linebacking corps here is stout; they didn’t need both Brown and Josh Carraway despite the value. Even worse is selecting returner-only running back Khalfani Muhammad (even 12 picks before the end), when the 18th overall pick is a star-level returner.
