Why This Is Bold: Montgomery's currently being drafted at RB16 in PPR leagues according to FantasyFootballCalculator.com.
Why This Will Happen: The Packers selected a trio of backs in the 2017 draft, but spent no more than a fourth-round pick on any of them. Heading into the draft, the team essentially didn't have a depth chart -- they needed bodies to fill a roster, not necessarily to compete with Ty Montgomery.
Last year, per our Net Expected Points (NEP) metric, only Kenneth Dixon outperformed his running back teammates more than Montgomery outperformed his. Perhaps more importantly, in PPR formats a season ago, Ty Mont averaged 15 points per game in the 8 contests where he saw 40% or more of Green Bay's snaps. That type of average would've made him a top-10 back last year -- a year where he converted to running back after starting the season at wide receiver.
