Last year's QB20 in FanDuel scoring, Carson Palmer had some up-and-down performances, but he also showed plenty of upside, turning in five 20-plus fantasy point games despite his 4.4% touchdown rate -- a stat that comes with huge doses of variance over the short-term. That percentage sat well below the 5.0% he's averaged in his time with the Arizona Cardinals, a gap that accounts for more than three touchdowns over the course of the season.

He draws a great matchup to start the 2017 season, taking on a Detroit Lions defense that hasn't made a ton of big personnel changes since 2016. They probably should have, since this group finished as the league's second-worst passing defense according to our Adjusted Defensive Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play metric and allowed the third-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks.
