The underdog stories just keep coming. Don't you love the NFL? There was an awesome thread on Twitter from Robert Klemko highlighting Austin Ekeler's story last week, which is definitely worth checking out. Per Klemko, Ekeler ran an unofficial 4.42 40-yard dash and had a 40.5 inch vertical jump.
The Los Angeles Chargers gave him a chance to show what he had this preseason, and he did not disappoint. Ekeler totaled 159 yards on 20 touches, all while making plays on special teams as well. He climbed the depth chart and beat out three other backs for the team's fourth spot and should return kicks for the Chargers on Monday night.
It would obviously take something happening to Melvin Gordon for Ekeler to amount to anything more than a return specialist this season, but he is still a name worth knowing in dynasty and deep season-long leagues.
