Frankly, I could have listed any of Kerwynn Williams, Tarik Cohen and Javorius Allen here, but Williams has the most uncertain situation of the three. This isn't to say you shouldn't necessarily use these guys, but they're better viewed as tournament fliers rather than cash-game staples.
Sure, they've gained bigger roles in their respective offenses and will save you some coin, but how much of that volume can you truly guarantee? Williams is being called the starter for the Arizona Cardinals in Week 2, but Andre Ellington will be involved, and if they were truly that confident in the situation, why would they immediately re-sign Chris Johnson, who they released before the season? Not to mention that the Colts might not be total pushovers defending the run -- for as bad as they were in Week 1, they only allowed 1.9 yards per carry (63 total rushing yards) against the Los Angeles Rams.
The Cardinals may find themselves throwing the ball to move the chains anyway.
Meanwhile, Cohen is still sharing the Chicago Bears backfield with Jordan Howard, and Allen will split snaps with Terrance West. Cohen and Allen's pass-catching roles give them better floors on a PPR site like DraftKings, but these backfields look like pretty even timeshares that could sway in either direction depending on game scripts.
Among alternative cheap running backs, Jacquizz Rodgers is safer because he has more guaranteed volume as the defacto feature back for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. And if Danny Amendola misses Sunday's game, James White, could play a prominent role in the New England Patriots' short passing game.
