Less than two years removed from a 1,000-yard season, Allen Hurns is poised to take a step forward for the Jacksonville Jaguars as they deal with the loss of Allen Robinson for the season. After Robinson made his exit last week, Hurns and Marqise Lee virtually never left the field, playing 79.7% and 82.8% of the snaps, respectively.
Both receivers racked up four targets, but it was Hurns who finished with 3 catches for 43 yards, while Lee failed to record any.
In the win 29-7 over the Houston Texans, the Jaguars leaned heavily on their running game -- 39 runs compared to 21 pass attempts -- due to having a commanding lead. If they are going to reach 2-0, though, they will be pressed into a more balanced game script against the Tennessee Titans -- we give them just 42.8% odds of winning despite being just 1.5-point underdogs.
With Hurns a newly-minted starter and the likelihood of needing to pass the ball more often, the door is open for him to relive some of that 2015 magic he had with Blake Bortles.
