Marcedes Lewis, TE, Jacksonville Jaguars
4 Receptions, 62 Yards, 5 Targets, 3 Touchdowns
Performance: 80, NEP: +9.43
So chances are that you didn't start Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Marcedes Lewis on Sunday. And considering he hadn't notched a single reception heading into Week 3, we can't fault you. But three touchdowns later, Lewis is our top tight end from Week 3.
With the entire Baltimore Ravens team seemingly sleeping through the game, the 6'7" Lewis was consistently winning jump balls in the end zone against smaller defenders, and the veteran tight end has now matched his touchdown total from the past three years combined. Considering he hasn't scored more than four touchdowns in a season since 2010, it's safe to say that what occurred on Sunday was a bit of a surprise.
But on a day where everything was going right for Blake Bortles and the Jaguars' offense, Lewis was the clear beneficiary. To expect that to continue beyond this week is to expect lightning to strike twice. Lewis should remain on waiver wires despite his excellent Week 3 showing.
