Perhaps Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers just needed to visit that porous New England Patriots defense to get that right shoulder healthy.
After looking bad through the first few weeks, Carolina's passing attack got back on track in a big way -- Newton shredded the Pats for 316 passing yards and 3 touchdowns on their way to a big road win in Foxboro.
It is interesting to note that on Newton's 29 drop backs, Devin Funchess, not Kelvin Benjamin, led the team in targets (seven), and turned that into a monster fantasy effort with 7 catches for 70 yards and 2 scores. Both Benjamin and Christian McCaffrey were second in targets (four each).
Before we get too excited, let's remember that New England's defense is really bad -- they ranked 31st against the pass per our metrics through the season's first three weeks. However, this could be a sign of things to come, meaning Funchess' ownership should be trending upward.
