When looking for deep sleepers, we want players with an opportunity, and no low-owned running back is in a better position for touches than Samaje Perine in Week 6. With Rob Kelley doubtful to play in Week 6, Perine will take over the early-down backfield work for the Washington Redskins as they host the San Francisco 49ers.
Washington head coach Jay Gruden loves to run the ball. So far this season, the Redskins have 116 rushing attempts compared to 128 drop backs. With runs on 54.1% of their plays their last three games, only the Jacksonville Jaguars have a higher percentage of rushing plays. With the 'Skins also being a double-digit favorite at home over the 'Niners, Perine's plate will be plenty full if the game script plays out as expected.
San Francisco doesn't do themselves any favors defensively, as they own the 7th-worst defense in the NFL, per our metrics, while allowing opposing running backs to average 22.0 fantasy points per game, the 5th-most in the league.
