Prior to Sunday night's game, the Denver Broncos run defense had limited Melvin Gordon, Ezekiel Elliott, Lesean McCoy, and Marshawn Lynch to 95 yards on 50 carries (1.9 yards per carry) and no touchdowns.
Then Orleans Darkwa happened.
In a backfield committee where Wayne Gallman had made significant progress recently, it was Darkwa who emerged as the New York Giants' lead back. He led the Giants to victory, rushing 21 times for a career-high 117 yards (5.57 YPC).
The Giants face the Seattle Seahawks next week before getting to finally enjoy their bye week, but if Darkwa was a legitimate starting option against the Broncos, he should be usable going forward for as long as game script is in New York's favor.
