Brandon LaFell had a slow start to the season but picked it up in the last two games when he hauled in 9 receptions on 15 targets, second only to A.J. Green. He has benefited from the absence of both John Ross and Tyler Boyd. Boyd's status for Week 8 is iffy at best. Ross looks likely to play this week, but it would be shocking to see him used heavily. LaFell should still be slotted in as Cincinnati's WR2 as they face the porous Colts defense.

LaFell doesn't have the speed that Thompson brings. He very likely isn't going to go out and get your team 20 fantasy points (his best this season is last week's 12.8). What he can do, however, is return two to three times value and help provide salary cap relief so you can pay up for big names like Le'Veon Bell or Ezekiel Elliott
