Martavis who?
With Martavis Bryant inactive on Sunday night following trade demands and complaints about his role, rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster took center stage for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and boy did he deliver.
The youngest player in the NFL finished the night with 7 receptions for 193 yards and a touchdown, including a 97-yard score where he demonstrated that he's got some wheels in addition to his size. He posted a Performance Score of 99 and quickly became perhaps the most exciting player to add off waivers for Week 9.
While Smith-Schuster had certainly shown flashes of potential out of the slot this season, no one could anticipate what he had in store for the Detroit Lions last night. His previous game high had been 4 receptions for 58 yards on 6 targets.
JuJu doesn't play the same role Bryant did during the latter's breakout 2015 season, but there is certainly volume to be found in an offense that had been perhaps over-reliant on superstars Le'Veon Bell and Antonio Brown. Smith-Schuster is a must add player in all formats, and his upside would get a big boost if the Steelers end up trading Bryant.
