5 NFL Stats to Know Through Week 9

The Texans Have Allowed an Average of 308 Passing Yards Over Past 2 Games

When it comes to the passing game, the Texans are struggling on both sides of the ball.

After allowing Russell Wilson to throw for the most yards of any quarterback in a game this season in Week 9's shootout with the Seattle Seahawks, the Houston Texans gave up 308 passing yards to Jacoby Brissett the following week. That was only Brissett's second 300-yard passing game this season, which was the fourth time Houston allowed that many yards to a quarterback in the past six games.

The two outlier games there were versus the Tennessee Titans, when Marcus Mariota left injured after 10 pass attempts, and against the Cleveland Browns, who rank 22nd in passing yards per game (206.1).

Houston has now lost two of three games since J.J. Watt went down for the the season, with their only win during that time coming against the Browns.

They are giving up the third-most fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks and are looking at a Week 10 meeting with Jared Goff, who is coming off of a 311-yard, 4-touchdown performance of his own. Our models project him for 275.6 passing yards and 19.5 fantasy points, which would both rank 11th-best among all quarterbacks this week.
