When Doug Martin missed Week 13 with a concussion, Peyton Barber revitalized the Buccaneers' rushing offense. He took his 23 carries for 102 yards that week and added 4 receptions, too. Martin, on the other hand, has yet to break 100 yards rushing all season.
The team tried to go back to Martin in Week 14, but Barber outplayed him again. While Martin found the end zone in Week 14, he also fumbled and was inefficient with his carries. Barber was far more efficient with his touches, averaging a whopping 2.2 more yards per carry than Martin.
At this point, it should be difficult for the team to continue starting Martin over Barber. They gave Barber two more carries than Martin, signaling a changing of the guard.
