NFL.com Start Percentage: 22.6%
Week 16 Fantasy Points: 25.44
Jared Goff was the top-performing fantasy quarterback in Week 17 thanks to 301 passing yards and 4 touchdowns.
As the 2017 season concludes, the big game is less surprising than Goff's low start percentage. Heading into Week 16, our J.J. Zachariason noted that the Tennessee Titans surrender the second-most passing plays in the league, and our Brandon Gdula went a step further, recommending Goff as a high-upside starting candidate.
Goff's fantasy performances in 2017 have been somewhat matchup dependent, but he's definitely been a useful option in the right spots. He's posted six top-12 (QB1) performances, including two overall QB1 finishes. He's the eighth-best fantasy quarterback for the season, and seventh-best real-world passer this year by our metrics.
Goff's 2017 breakout should boost his acquisition cost in 2018 fantasy drafts, but the stink of his terrible 2016 might still hold down his price down a bit. Keep an eye on his average draft position, and consider him a viable starting quarterback next year if his cost remains reasonable.
