DraftKings Price: $3,000
This is the type of play that makes Week 17 so fun.
Demarcus Robinson hasn't seen a target since Week 13. He has a total of 17 receptions this season for only 181 yards and no scores. His opponent this week is the Denver Broncos, a team that has given up the second-fewest DraftKings points to wide receivers this season.
So, what gives?
The Kansas City Chiefs are locked into the 4 seed, and coach Andy Reid has already told us that Alex Smith will sit in lieu of his heir Patrick Mahomes. And if Smith is sitting, it is highly unlikely that the rest of the Chiefs' offensive stars play more than a handful of snaps, if any. That means players like Robinson will have to step up.
Robinson was only involved heavily in the KC offense once this season, when he saw eight targets in a 31-30 loss to the Oakland Raiders in Week 7. He was effective in that game, however, finishing with 5 grabs for 69 yards.
As a plus, Robinson and Mahomes showed solid rapport this preseason. The two hooked up for 2 catches, 127 yards, and a 28-yard touchdown in preseason Week 1. That may be a lot to ask for this week, but the Broncos have nothing to play for, and Mahomes has a lot to prove -- this may be his team next year, after all.
This play is a tournament-only shot in the dark, but one that would likely separate you from the masses if it hits. We project Robinson to finish with 8.6 points.
