Spencer Ware missed the entire 2017 season, and even if he returns fully healthy, he should find himself well behind Kareem Hunt on the Kansas City Chiefs' depth chart. Heading into this offseason, the Chiefs are hurting for cap space, even if you factor in the relief they will receive when Alex Smith's contract comes off the books, and Ware has never exactly shown himself to be the type of player that a team desperately needs to keep.
In 2016, his last healthy season, Ware was well below average. His Rushing NEP per Play of -0.07 was quite a way off the league average of -0.02 for that season. And now that KC has Hunt, they may decide they no longer need Ware's services.
