Cap Savings: $1,425,000
Dead Money: $1,250,000
San Francisco 49ers tight end Garrett Celek enjoyed quite a productive season on a per-snap basis. His 0.42 Target NEP per target was good for the 11th-best mark among the 46 tight ends who saw at least 30 targets in 2017. He finished third on the Niners' roster with 16.0 yards per reception, and he chipped in with a team leading 4 touchdown catches.
However, Celek saw only 33 targets during the season. While the 49ers aren't struggling for cap space -- even after signing Jimmy Garoppolo to a mega deal -- they do have promising second-year tight end George Kittle in the fold, and they could do with upgrading the other offensive weapons around Garoppolo. One way to make room for additional playmakers would be to cut ties with Celek.
