The 5 Least Efficient Red-Zone Rushers in 2017
Which running backs were the worst performers in the red zone?

Orleans Darkwa, New York Giants

Rushing NEP Per Carry: -0.21

An efficient ground game is not something the New York Giants have had too much over the last few years. This trend continued in 2017. Their team-wide -0.07 Adjusted Rushing NEP per play was the fourth-lowest mark in the NFL.

Orleans Darkwa was the team's leading red-zone rusher last season, and he was quite awful in the role. He managed only 41 yards on his 22 carries, while only 6 of those carries resulted in positive NEP. Only two backs had lower rushing Success Rate than Darkwa’s 27.27%.

With the second pick in the upcoming NFL Draft, the Giants are one of the teams linked with running back Saquon Barkley. Regardless of the merits of taking running backs so high, Barkley would certainly be an upgrade over anything the G-Men have had in quite some time.
