Whenever possible, you want to tie your running backs to high-efficiency quarterbacks who will generate touchdown drives. And they don't come more efficient than Aaron Rodgers. That means whoever wins the Green Bay Packers' starting running back gig is going to be someone we want to own.

We know Aaron Jones will be sitting out the first two games due to a suspension, and that puts him in a bit of a hole to start things out. But with how efficient Jones was his rookie year, you can't rule him out.

And fantasy players haven't done so, keeping Jones right behind teammate Jamaal Williams in ADP over the past 10 days.

Because they're all so close in cost, the "pick the cheapest one" strategy is a bit less valid. But at a slight discount, it's best not to forget about Ty Montgomery.

We know Montgomery can make plays in the passing game, and that matters even more in a Rodgers-led offense. But he was also efficient as a runner last year, increasing the team's expected points for the drive on 50.7% of his carries, according to numberFire's Net Expected Points (NEP) model, also known as a Rushing Success Rate. With Montgomery already having generated buzz back in the spring, he'll be an interesting part of this equation to watch as the coaches dole out the reps.
