Doug Baldwin is likely to see an uptick in targets this season, especially in the red zone, due to the departure of Jimmy Graham and Seattle's lack of a true workhorse running back. Despite the favorable projection for the season, we should want no part of him in Week 1.
Baldwin increased his practice participation this week after battling a knee injury, and it looks like he should be a full-go for this weekend's tilt against the Denver Broncos. But there is reasons for concern, at least in Week 1, as Baldwin admitted he is likely to not be 100% at any point in 2018. Couple that with a brutal one-on-one matchup with slot maven Chris Harris, and the Seahawks' wideout becomes a clear avoid.
If Baldwin happens to venture outside to escape Harris, he still will have to deal with a Denver secondary that allowed the fourth-fewest pass yards in the NFL last season. Baldwin has also caught just 43% of his career touchdowns on the road, and he has to venture into the high altitude in Denver here, which is one of the more difficult environments in the league. Projected for just 19.75 points, Baldwin and the Seattle offense as a whole are far from appealing this week.
