While volume is king at the running back position, sometimes it can feel like we are trying to fit a square peg into a round hole. LeSean McCoy is the square peg this week, and the Baltimore Ravens' defense is the round hole.
McCoy is undoubtedly going to be the focal point of an offense that has about as much firepower as a cap gun, but the likely inefficient nature of his touches makes him a risky proposition in this spot. Baltimore is likely to stack the box and force second-year signal caller Nathan Peterman beat them, making it tough sledding for Shady to find many holes up front.
The Ravens were just 15th in rushing yards allowed last season, and their first four draft picks of 2018 were spent on the offensive side of the football. That said, the Bills are projected for a slate-low 16.5 points, which is 2.75 points below the next-lowest mark (Jets at 19.25 points).
There will be opportunities to play McCoy down the road in better matchups, but he is likely to be bottled up this week.
