Starting Eli Manning isn't the recipe for a good night's sleep, but he checks some boxes this week in a home date with the New Orleans Saints.
New Orleans was a solid defense last year, but they've struggled mightily through three weeks in 2018. Our metrics have them as the worst pass defense and the second-worst overall defense. Two of the three top-scoring fantasy weeks this year -- Matt Ryan's 40.2 points in Week 3 and Ryan Fitzpatrick's 42.3 points in Week 1 -- have come against the Saints.
Manning is coming off a solid showing in a road win at Houston. He completed 25 of 29 passes for 297 yards and 2 scores -- good for 19.78 fantasy points.
In that game, the Giants showed more of a willingness to line up Saquon Barkley out wide, doing so on 11.4% of snaps, per Pro Football Focus, after Barkley was split out just 7.3% and 5.2% of the time in the first two weeks. It paid off as Barkley created mismatches for himself and also helped open the field for everyone else, which resulted in Manning looking pretty darn good.
The G-Men carry a 23.25-point implied total this week, and we project Manning for 18.04 points, with our models forecasting him to be the QB14.
