If you haven’t noticed, the Buffalo Bills’ passing offense is bad. Like, really bad. It’s bad for the team, it’s bad for fantasy production; it’s just not good or fun to be a part of. That’s why those of you still holding onto tight end Charles Clay need to drop him. It’s for your own good.
Despite the Bills’ utter decimation of the Minnesota Vikings last weekend, there still wasn’t a great deal of fantasy value thrown around to the receiving targets. Running back Chris Ivory led the team with 70 yards receiving, and the top receiver or tight end was a Kelvin Benjamin-Andre Holmes tie with 29 yards. Clay was fourth on the list behind fellow tight end Jason Croom.
And the rest of the season has been much worse.
Clay already has two drops this season, and the highest drop rate among tight ends, despite a reasonable 75 percent catchable target rate. The biggest issue, though, is that he’s not seeing usage in this offense: his target share ranks 31st among tight ends, and his Hog Rate is just 35th.
Tight end is an iffy position, but Clay represents a low ceiling and lower floor. Go get someone who gives you at least one of those.
