A lot of people who drafted Chris Carson this season must have been wondering what they got themselves into when they watched the Seattle Seahawks in the first two weeks. The Hawks gave Carson just 16 combined touches in their first two games, both losses.
That changed last week, however, when Carson toted the ball 32 times in a win over the Dallas Cowboys. Those carries not only marked a career high, but they led the entire league in Week 3. Carson was far from efficient with his carries, averaging just 3.2 yards per touch, but he did top 100 yards, find the end zone and add 2 receptions for 22 yards, all of which was enough to rank him as the sixth-best DraftKings running back of the week.
This week he and the Hawks will face the Arizona Cardinals. That would have sounded daunting in either of the past two years, when the Cardinals were a top-five fantasy defense against opposing rushers.
To simply say the Cardinals got worse over the offseason would completely miss the mark on the magnitude of their drop. They are giving up 38.60 DraftKings points per game this year, second only to the Kansas City Chiefs. Their 370 rushing yards are the second-most, and their 5 rushing touchdowns lead the league.
Carson was limited in Wednesday's practice, but that seemed precautionary more than anything. Still, it's worth keeping an eye on as we get closer to Sunday.
We currently have Carson projected for 11.5 DraftKings points, with upside for 26.3. The latter would return a value of 5.7 points per $1,000.
