You might think that Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick should be starting in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons. Dirk Koetter doesn't care. After three 400-yard games, Fitzpatrick struggled in a half against Khalil Mack (who doesn't?), and that was all Koetter needed to decide to put Jameis Winston back at the helm going forward.
Winston was certainly accurate in the second half against the Chicago Bears as he completed 16 of 20 passes. Heck, you can argue that he completed 18 of 20 if you include the two passes that the Bears' defenders caught.
He couldn't get a much better matchup for his first full game of the year. The Falcons looked like an NFL-caliber defense in Week 1's loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Since then, however, injuries to several defensive starters quickly devolved their team into one of the best teams to stream quarterbacks against.
They've given up at least 250 passing yards and 3 passing touchdowns in four straight games. That doesn't even include two Drew Brees rushing scores. Winston has at least three touchdowns in each of his past three matchups against the Falcons and has multiple touchdowns in all five of his meetings against them.
For those of you dealing with a Matthew Stafford or Brees bye this week, Winston should be one of your top targets for a spot start. If you have the room on your roster and like to look long term, his Week 14 matchup -- the first week of the playoffs -- is against the New Orleans Saints, who had the third-worst fantasy defense against quarterbacks heading into Week 5. At only 18% owned in Yahoo leagues, your chance to pick up Winston is now.
