Like most rookie wide receivers, Courtland Sutton has not dominated out of the gate. Through five weeks he is averaging 2.0 catches and 30.2 yards per game. Despite the low production, Sutton's opportunities and responsibilities have risen each week.
In three of his last four games, Sutton has seen six targets. His playing time has also increased. The rookie has been a fixture in three-WR sets and has even replaced Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders on occasion. He has played over 76% of snaps the last four games.
Last week against the Jets, Sutton found the end zone for the first time in his career as he was targeted a team-high 4 times in the red zone. With the Los Angeles Rams coming to town on Sunday, Sutton could be in line for a real breakout game in Week 6.
The Rams' defense has been the bend-not-break variety the past three weeks. While they have gone undefeated, L.A. has allowed 85 points (28.3 per game) and 8 passing touchdowns from Weeks 3 to 5. The absence of Aqib Talib has hurt the secondary and could allow for the Broncos passing game to succeed as they chase points in Week 6. The Rams are 7.0-point road favorites in the matchup with the fourth-highest over/under (52.0) of the week.
