Coming into Week 6, Quincy Enunwa had seen twice as many targets (42) as any other New York Jets player. Well, Enunwa left with an injured ankle on Sunday and was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the game. The early thought is that it may be a high-ankle sprain, which usually means a multi-week absence.
If it is indeed the dreaded high-ankle sprain, a lot of volume just opened up in the Jets' passing game. In Week 6, Jermaine Kearse was the biggest beneficiary of Enunwa's departure, racking up 9 catches and 94 yards on 10 targets. He'd made only seven total grabs in the four previous games.
The Jets aren't a high-upside attack -- Sam Darnold has gone over 200 yards just twice this season -- but they're also an offense without a go-to target if Enunwa is out. Robby Anderson drew five targets in Week 6 and still hasn't made more than three catches in a game this year, so Kearse could be Gang Green's most-targeted wideout sans Enunwa.
He's worth grabbing off the waiver wire, although the Week 7 date with the Minnesota Vikings is a rough one.
