It has been a tough year for the tight ends all around the league, with even the great Rob Gronkowski yet to really get going in 2018. But one man who has been producing right from the start is Zach Ertz of the Philadelphia Eagles.
This past Sunday was no exception.
Ertz converted his 11 targets against the Carolina Panthers into 9 receptions for 138 yards. Through seven weeks, Ertz has 78 targets, 57 receptions, 618 yards and 2 touchdowns. No tight end since 1999 has seen more targets, nor had more more catches, through a season's opening seven weeks.
Ertz has had at least 10 targets in six of the Eagles seven games, with the long exception being a 9-target outing. His 78 targets are good for the fifth-most among all players, including wideouts.
The Eagles take on the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 8 at Wembley Stadium. The Jaguars have not been the easiest matchup for tight ends so far this season, but assuming Ertz sees his usual volume, he remains one of the few must-start tight ends.
