Just like the seven weeks before it, Week 8 of the 2018 NFL season came with plenty of notable performances, with players and teams delivering a host of statistically-notable feats.
Indianapolis Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri is now the highest point scorer in NFL history, after scoring 10 points against the Oakland Raiders on Sunday. These points were enough to take Vinatieri to 2,550 for his career, overtaking the 2,544 amassed by Hall-of-Famer Morten Andersen.
There is still an undefeated team keeping the champagne on ice for Mercury Morris and the rest of the 1972 Miami Dolphins, with the Los Angeles Rams extending their winning start to the season to eight games. This is the Rams first 8-0 start since way back in 1969.
It almost goes without saying that Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Adam Thielen reached 100 receiving yards again, but he did. His eighth consecutive such game places him in a tie with former Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson for the longest streak in NFL history. Ironically, it may be Johnson's old team that could bring an end to Thielen's streak as the Vikings and Lions tangle in Week 9. The Lions have allowed only a single receiver to eclipse the 100-yard mark against them this season.
Let’s take a closer look at some of the other key stats -- both traditional as well as our advanced statistics -- that emerged from Week 8.
