Whenever you are evaluating your fantasy roster, you need to address each player and ask, "What have you done for me lately?" In Randall Cobb's case, he hasn't done much of anything for you lately.
Cobb lit the field on fire in Week 1, but since then he's totaled just 18.1 fantasy points. Yes, he was injured for several weeks, but he scored those fantasy points in four total games -- averaging just over 4.5 fantasy points per game since Week 1.
We've seen this with Cobb before, too. In both of his last two seasons Cobb dealt with some kind of injury and just wasn't the same player he showed he could be in 2014. He's topped 100 receiving yards in just three games since 2015. Every player has a chance to shine when Aaron Rodgers is the one throwing them the ball, but Cobb hasn't really shown that upside the past few seasons.
Instead, it looks like other receivers on his own team are getting that chance to shine. Marquez Valdes-Scantling has moved ahead of Cobb on the Packers depth chart and has played more snaps in both of the two games they've together since Cobb returned from his hamstring injury. But Cobb isn't even the third option on the team -- Jimmy Graham has slid successfully into that role and has become a vital piece of the offense.
It never feels right cutting a piece of a Rodgers-led offense -- especially one that played well with him in the past -- but if you want to stay on top of your fantasy leagues you need to stay aware of the most recent trends and developments with each team in the NFL. Randall Cobb is no longer a valuable fantasy asset in his current role with the Packers.
