During the Houston Texans seven-game winning streak, Alfred Blue’s workload has spiked.
The clear backup to Lamar Miller, Blue has seen his fair share of touches with the Texans typically out in front. Since Week 4, Blue has collected 86 carries and 10 receptions. That averages out to 13.7 touches per game. They haven’t been wasted work either, as Blue has gotten at least 39 yards in six of seven games. Facing off with the Tennessee Titans on Monday night, there is no reason to suspect any reduction in Blue’s touches this week.
The Texans are 6.5-point home favorites against Tennessee, suggesting a heavy dose of the ground game. That would not be unusual as Houston has 305 carries this season, the fifth-most in the league. The Texans rushing attack has been succeeding lately too. They have gained at least 98 yards on the ground in each of the last four weeks, for an average of 141.5 yards per game.
For those who play in 16-team leagues, and are desperate for a running back play, Blue and his double-digit touches are well worth the flier.
