It might just be the week of the undrafted rookie running back. Phillip Lindsay had another great performance, Gus Edwards rushed for more than 100 yards for the second consecutive week, and Matt Breida is playing so well the team decided to make Alfred Morris a healthy scratch for the week.
All of these guys are legit fantasy contributors, but Josh Adams might turn out to be the best fantasy asset of them all.
Early on Sunday, a report came out saying the Philadelphia Eagles were going to start using Adams as their feature back. He was one of the few players on the team that saw any success in their terrible loss the previous week, so the move was a somewhat predictable one. What was not predictable was just how much volume Adams would actually receive.
In his first start as the team's lead back, the Eagles gave Adams a whopping 22 carries -- more than Jay Ajayi has ever handled for the team -- and they came in a mostly negative game script. His 22 carries were the most of any Eagles back this season and the most since Ryan Mathews had 22 in Week 1 of the 2016 season. Pending the Monday night game, those 22 carries were the fourth-most among all running backs in the league in Week 12.
Adams capitalized on that volume, as well. He turned those carries into 84 yards and a score, and he also had a long touchdown called back due to a holding penalty. The Eagles obviously trust Adams, who was a bell-cow back for Notre Dame in two of his three seasons in college.
The Eagles have a decent schedule for running backs to end the season, so Adams should be able to continue putting up solid performances. He's going to be a hot add off waivers this week in the roughly 50% of Yahoo leagues in which he's still free.
