The 2018 Seattle Seahawks' defense will not be confused with the elite crew that roamed CenturyLink Field from a few years back. That does not mean they aren’t worth the substantial investment they cost this Sunday in DFS. Facing a struggling San Francisco 49ers' offense at home in Week 13, Seattle appears to be one of the safest plays this week.
The Niners are coming off a dismal offensive showing in Week 12 where they managed only nine points against one of the softest defenses in the NFL, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. San Fran managed to gain 342 yards, but 2 interceptions from Nick Mullens stalled their offensive output to just a touchdown and a field goal. That marked the second straight week Mullens tossed a pair of picks. Low scores are nothing new for the 2-9 49ers as last Sunday was the third time in the Niners’ last five games where they scored fewer than 15 points. Heading into Seattle, they carry the fourth-lowest implied point total (18.0) and sit as 10.0 point underdogs to a solid Seattle defense.
The Seahawks allow just 22.1 points per game and have 11 interceptions on the year, both top-eight ranks in the NFL. Just two weeks ago, they sacked Aaron Rodgers five times. This week they get to take their shots at a Niners' O-line that allowed four sacks last week and 35 on the year -- seventh-most in the league.
