Chalk
Tight end has been ugly in 2018, and with Travis Kelce and George Kittle off the main slate last week, it got even uglier. Luckily for DFS'ers, they are back in the mix for Week 13, and they should be heavily owned -- especially Kelce, who we have projected for a position best 14.7 FanDuel points.
After a bit of a stinkbomb in Week 11, Zach Ertz picked up right where he left off in Week 12, grabbing seven passes for 91 receiving yards and a score. Ertz has now topped double-digit FanDuel points in every game except one in 2018.
For a cheaper tight end option, Cameron Brate at only $4,900 should see a lot of ownership. The Panthers have allowed the second-most FanDuel points to the tight end slot, and with O.J. Howard out for the year, Brate picked up last week by finding the end zone.
In a similar pricing tier of Brate is Eric Ebron, who leads all pass catcher in the NFL with 11 touchdown receptions, and is set to see a higher workload with Jack Doyle out for the season.
Matt LaCosse, Denver Broncos: $4,700 (at Cincinnati Bengals)
A bit of an unknown commodity with only a total of 14 receptions and 171 receiving yards to his name this year, Matt LaCosse steps into a major role with Jeff Heuerman out for the 2018 season.
The Broncos take on the Bengals this week, who have now allowed 189 points in their last five games (37.8 points per game). It probably comes as no surprise that they have recorded only win in that time frame. Against the Bengals last week, David Njoku of the Browns caught five passes for 89 yards and a score.
Poorly defending the tight end slot hasn't been just a recent issue for the Bengals. In 2018, they've allowed the most FanDuel points to the position (15.1 points per game), so the opportunity for a big day exists. We have LaCosse projected for only 5.5 FanDuel points, but we think there's tournament upside to 13.0 FanDuel points. Checking out LaCosse's 10.9 FanDuel points a week ago, that projection doesn't seem like a stretch.
