The quarterback situation for Washington continues to be one of the more comical aspects of the NFL in the closing weeks of the season. After losing both Alex Smith and Colt McCoy to broken legs in recent weeks, the team turned to former New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles signal caller Mark Sanchez against the New York Giants. Things didn't go well.

Sanchez completed a mere 6 of his 14 pass attempts for 38 yards and 2 interceptions. One of these was returned for a score, marking the ninth pick-six of Sanchez' career. The veteran was rewarded for his efforts with a 0.0 passer rating, becoming just the 12th player to do so since 1999 (minimum 10 attempts) and the 2nd this season. Nathan Peterman was equally bad back in Week 1.

According to numberFire's metrics, Sanchez was downright disastrous. He finished with -1.06 Passing Net Expected Points (NEP) per play on Sunday, meaning that he cost his team more than a point with every drop back. Sanchez was benched and replaced by Josh Johnson, and it is likely we won’t see him again this season.
