Since returning from injured reserve in Week 13, Kenneth Dixon has staked his claim for the number two running back spot in Baltimore.
In the last two weeks, Dixon has seen exactly nine touches in each game. After gaining 43 yards in Week 13, his first action since the season opener, the third-year back finished with 80 total yards and a touchdown against the Chiefs last Sunday. His snap count against KC was up to 23 (32%), just 8 fewer than Baltimore Ravens' presumptive lead back Gus Edwards. The fact that Dixon, not Edwards, was the running back of choice during overtime in Week 14 bodes well for Dixon’s future role. If he sees double-digit touches this Sunday against a soft Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense, the Ravens’ back is well worth a flier in the fantasy playoffs.
The Bucs have allowed 20 total touchdowns (14 rushing, 6 receiving) to running backs this season, tied for the most in the NFL. They have also surrendered over 140 total yards per game to the position, leaving them ranked 29th in fantasy points allowed to backs. Only the Bengals, Cardinals, and Chiefs have given up more.
