The tight end position has been an absolute dumpster fire this season. Over the last few weeks, though, one bright spot has been the play of Ian Thomas for the Carolina Panthers.
Filling in for an injured Greg Olsen, the rookie tight end has stepped up over his last three games, racking up 20 targets -- the sixth-most in the league at his position. Thomas converted those looks into 16 catches for 137 yards or 29.7 PPR points. That ranks him as the TE6 in PPR leagues since Week 13. If for some reason Thomas is available in your league -- which he is in over 50% of Yahoo! leagues -- don’t hesitate to pick him up ahead of championship week with the soft Atlanta Falcons on the docket.
The Falcons’ beat-up pass defense ranks 21st in passing yards allowed and have allowed 28 passing touchdowns, the fourth-most in the NFL. The unit ranks 31st in our schedule-adjusted ranks as well. With the over/under (49.5) for the game one of the highest of the week, Thomas is a strong tight end play in Week 16, making him our top streaming option.
