It was tough to trust any Miami Dolphin in fantasy football on Sunday. It’s a new offense, Ryan Tannehill’s played at expectation throughout his career according to our metrics, and the matchup against New England didn’t scream opportunity.
But Bill Lazor’s offense had a little Chip Kelly to it, as we documented over the offseason. Knowshon Moreno carried the ball 24 times for 134 yards and a score, while Lamar Miller saw 11 and 59 yards of his own. The balance was nearly perfect, as quarterback Ryan Tannehill attempted 32 passes.
It was a huge, surprising win for a team that ranked 20th offensively last year in terms of Net Expected Points, and 19th defensively. While we still expect New England to win that division, perhaps the Dolphins will be the biggest contender in a division that looked a little bleak entering the season.
